Alan Sonfist's "Time Landscape", (1965-1978-Present) is a public artwork that occupies a city block in downtown Manhattan, New York. It consists of plants that were native to the area in pre-colonial times. It is enclosed by a metal fence and there is no public access to the piece, giving it a dioramic quality very similar to the viewing garden. The viewing garden is a small enclosed urban garden of low maintenance plants and shrubs that help control unruly street spaces.
